Adoption Timeline:
May 2013 - God began laying adoption on our hearts.October 2013 - Stumbled upon www.Reecesrainbow.org and began feeling the call to adopt a little one with Down Syndrome.
December 3, 2013 - Emailed Reece's Rainbow and began collecting information on how to go about the adoption process.
December 15, 2013 - Contacted our social worker about doing a home study.
December 21, 2013 - Began looking at the possibility of choosing Bulgaria as the country from which to adopt.
January 14, 2014 - Home study home visit, turned in home study paperwork to social worker.
January 19, 2014 - Announced to family and friends our intentions (Sanctity of Life Sunday)
January 28, 2014 - Got fingerprinted at the police station and sent off for our FBI background checks.
January 29, 2014 - Mailed certified marriage licenses to be apostilled in South Carolina.
February 8, 2014 - Received apostilled marriage licenses.
March 4, 2014 - Received our FBI Clearances
March 11, 2014 - Mailed FBI Clearances for apostille
March 18, 2014 - Received our completed home study in the mail!!!!
March 18, 2014 - Mailed off our I800a application
March 25, 2014 - Had our physicals for our dossier
March 25, 2014 - Received word from USCIS that they are beginning to process our I800a
April 28, 2014 - Biometrics fingerprints for USCIS
May 9, 2014 - Received USCIS approval! Mailed it off to be apostilled, then forwarded on to adoption agency and then to Bulgaria!
June 20, 2014 - After a few weeks of authentication in Bulgaria, dossier was officially submitted to the Minister of Justice
July 18, 2014 - MOJ signed off on our dossier and we are officially "registered!"
October 30, 2014 - Received a phone call from our adoption agency with news of a referral
November 6, 2014 - Received the official translated referral
November 11, 2014 - Received updated pictures and videos of our referral
November 16, 2014 - Officially accepted the referral!
December 13 - 20, 2014 - Meetcha Trip
December 16, 2014 - I800 mailed off
December 23, 2014 - Fingerprints mailed off for FBI clearance, other 2nd stage dossier paperwork mailed to be apostilled.
January 10, 2015 - Received 1800 approval and all apostilled documents in the mail
January 12, 2015 - Mailed all of 2nd Stage Dossier to Shelley (minus FBI clearance)
January 12, 2015 - Received FBI clearance which we turned around and mailed to Caring Hands to be apostilled in Washington, DC - it will be sent straight to Shelley once it is apostilled and will be mailed on to Bulgaria from there.
January 16, 2015 - Article 5 interview! All went well!
Week of January 26, 2015 - Paperwork was resubmitted to the Minister of Justice
March 16, 2015 - Minister of Justice signed our dossier and sent it to court
March 17, 2015 - Judge assigned and court date set for March 31, 2015
March 31, 2015 - Court date! The judge granted our adoption!!
December 16, 2014 - I800 mailed off
